I need someone to explain to me what that means.
Few days ago I discovered that my processor’s voltage is way too high.With that I mean 3.952 V.
For most computers the same voltage would be around 1.4 or 1.5.
To be clear,I haven’t overclocked my pc.I have no idea how to do it.
I don’t even have the option to change the voltage in the BIOS.
So I spent the last days searching the net for some answers but all this is strange to me.
My computer works fine and it doesn’t heat up.
So what’s the deal with that high voltage?

Do you have multimeter with you? Check for input and output voltages at all the power sockets and computer.

Well, If I was you… I would have contacted my Vendor and ask for a replacement !!

My BIOS needs indeed an update Jason.
It happened only one time that i didn’t unplug the power cable from my bf’s pc and i was cleaning the power suply of dust and i touched with the weird brush i used – it had a little aluminium head and i went too deep inside with it – and boom! I burned the power suply.
I can’t tell you how upset i was because i fix computers,I don’t break them.
You should see my face.LMAO!

Definitely let us know. I still think your bios may need updated though. Oh, and unplug the case first before you open it up! :0) I have forgotten before (well I should say I was overconfident that nothing would happen before!!)

That’s ok.
For now i will leave my pc alone.Well,not for long.
I intend to open it up and switch some things in there,clean up the dust and check the wires.
Then do some test,see what tweaking i have done wrong and then i will post the rest of the details.

Can you put a screenshot of the everest readings so that we can get to know what exactly is happening in your computer?

As I said in the forum it looks like your motherboard’s smbus is not supported my some of the manufacturer. Try to update the Bios and see. Can you put the everest screen shot so that we can get more info on what is exactly happening inside your computer.

Well,the reading of CPU-Z must be wrong because it contradicts with the other ones.
Plus,Everest show a 1.4-1.5 Voltage so i don’t know anymore.

I have seen IBM and Dell machines where the voltage and frequency control options are not all present, and in OEM intel motherboards also these options are not present. This is usually done by manufacturers to protect you from any damage which could happen due to overclocking. But the standard voltage for a Pentium 4 northwood core processor is 1.4 to 1.6.

No Shiva,i don’t think someone disabled it.
I need to update the BIOS beause it hasn’t been updated in 2 years.
Anyway,i will look for more info on the Fujitsu Siemens website.
According to my findings I think my CPU’ voltage is on the 3.4 and 4 range.
You can have a cpu voltage up to 5.
And there can be internal and external voltage.

According to the Everest your voltage is ok. Looks like the CPU-Z wrongly read your voltage. Jason I think she won’t have those options for adjusting the Vcore since it is standard company product, the manufacturere may have disabled those options.

if the whole system is Fujitsu Siemens could you try their technical support,only thing i can think off or try http://www.ocworkbench.com and leave a question on their forum page.Its not a link by the way.

TechZ,i checked it with Everest and that’s what it gives me:
Core Voltage 1.475 – 1.55 V
I/O Voltage 1.475 – 1.55 V
Jason,my computer is neither of them. It is a pc build for company use,which means that is more stable than a store bought computer.They are very resistent.
The motherboard is a Fujitsu Siemens D1495.
In the BIOS there’s nothing i can change.There’s no option for the voltage nor for the Pc Health.

It could be a case that the bios needs to be updated in the computer. Carol, is it a store bought pc or one that you built? If its one you built, what is the motherboard?
If the options are in the bios, the way you change the voltage is with the VCore attribute.

Hmm, thats odd. It should be in the 1.4-1.5 range, although if it were operating at near 4v, that would leave the system quite unstable. Try another program, it’s possible that it’s just a bad reading.
Check in the BIOS, for PC Health. Also use Everest (from Lavalys), it’ll show a proper readout, if the sensor isnt at fault.
