Howto Move your Program Files from a drive to another

Last week-end I upgraded my computer with a bigger hard drive and over the past days I was looking for a way to move some of my Program Files to the new drive without having to reinstall the applications or use a cloning software and..without messing up my system.
Finally, today I found a little piece of software that does a really great job and moves the applications with all registry keys and everything else.
Bad part about it is that is a Shareware, which I don’t blog about …well, till now.
Good part is that you can use it for a limited time and move some of your biggest files. (Limitations : 10 uses)
While on trial,I got to move some of my biggest software to the new drive, checked the registry keys and see if the software are still functional and … it works.
You must be careful though when using this software because not every folder can be moved.
Here ,they provide some very important notes on what to move and what not to move.
Good luck with it!
I will do my best to find a freeware or a or a open source software that does just the same as this one.
It sure spares lots of time and work.
About
I usually don’t prefer to move apps like this, I usually do fresh install of all the apps.
Me too !!. I always go for fresh install. BWT any solution of Mac ?
I didn’t look for Mac.
I prefer clean install too,but for some software i have settings that i don’t want to go over again.
Plus,a clean install is good for Windows itself. With a software is not such a big deal.
I’ve taken to using Virtual PC for things like Vistual Studio and NetBeans installs. Never mind mind these apps, they take ages to install fresh!
Hi Carol,
I just wanna ask (and I know you can help me with this), for some weird reason, I have found a very annoying message that pops-out on my screen that contains codes. I had no idea where it came from, it says “Display Traces”. What is it? How can I get rid of that?
Few questions first,K.
It displays this right at start up?
Did you installed something else recently except the Brico Pack?
Since when do you have this message?
Can you take a screenshot of it?
Once i know that i might be able to help.
You might want to try a spyware scan.If possible in safe mode because then most programs aren’t running.
It’s right after I installed Bicropack and the other link from another commenter from my XP desktop post. All of them works fine except that it no longer let me play my iTunes, macromedia & Win player from the dock-click links. Then everytime after my PC startup, the damn thing pops up. And oh there’s this other one called “ssdiag”. It’s an application and the config says, Sonic Solutions, something about a shared Drivers? Can I delete that? I removed it from Windows file and moved it to my download folder. HELP!
