Using the Internet to your own advantage
Few days back i was looking for some online courses offering more than the HP ones i am taking at the moment.
After doing some search, together with my friend David, I stumbled into a great one, offering some really great courses -
When i say great, i mean complete courses, very detailed and so very well explained, with lots of relevant and accurate information, videos and exercises.
When i got started with it, I just couldn’t stop.
Call me crazy, but i am enrolled at the moment on 15 courses, and already started 4 on “Self-Paced: End User Business Skills Development” courses category, such as Management Skills, Negotiation, Project management, Motivation Methods and Strategies and 1 on “Self-Paced: End User Home and Small Business”, and that is Interview Skills.
Maybe I will never need to use any of the info i will get from those courses, but then again…you never know.
Of course, is not all about Business in there. There are a variety of courses one might be interested in, as you will see below.
Some of the courses are very long, containing up to 10 units or more, each unit having lots of chapters.
One might get scared because of that, but trust me, everything in there is worth learning and knowing.
For every Unit you complete, you get a diploma released by MindLeaders.
This is a preview of what you will be able to learn:

About
Great find Carol. I will probably sing up for a few of these.
I might sing…but I will start by signing up for them
Knowing you as i do now,i know you are not crazy, you are a highly motivated young lady, who deserves all the success you can get.
Got for it Carol.
Let me know when you get started with any of them Kevin and don’t be scared if the appear to be too long.
David, this time i might be a bit crazy, but knowing that they are on my To Do list, motivates me even more.
Carol - You are the best. I can’t wait to jump over to WebJunction. I can’t believe it’s free. Thank you so much. You get a gold star on your chart.
enrolled yourselves in 15 courses. that is not crazy, that is proactive.
Morgan, you may be amazed by the fact that they are free, but wait to see the content and then you’ll be more amazed.
Some of the classes are offered by the University of Texas, and you can enroll yourself as a student, with them.
I just found out yesterday that i was a student there, with two courses and Copyrighting and Communication.
Ali, proactive or not, i just hope i won’t get a crack on my brain from too much info at once.
Did you enrolled yourself as well?
not ready yet. too much things to do right now. maybe later.
I tried to register and enroll but after I registered and signed in, the courses changed from free to paid. Any ideas how to “by-pass” that? I guess they are free to certain library employees. How do I “become” a library employee
Well, don’t ignore them if you can still find one hour free, Ali.
Kevin, where exactly did you enrolled yourself?
If you access the courses on the main WJ web site, then you bump into the paid ones.
You need to access those free classes via Connecticut Courses link.
Scroll down and click on the Courses Catalog. That should give you all the courses offered as free.
On this link - Courses offered by the University of North Texas - you should be able to access some of the Librarian Classes.
If you still get the paid ones, e-mail me.
Ok now I know my problem. If you change the affiliation from Connecticut, the courses become paid. Thanks Carol! TCP/IP course, here I come!!
Yep! Connecticut is the trick.
Was not easy finding them.
And i thought you wanted to be a librarian….
Thats a great List Carol , thanks for sharing .
My pleasure, Madhur.
