Its description on Woopra web site was appealing and I decided to give it a try.
After waiting about two weeks for its makers to confirm my URL’s, I am finally able to log on into the dashboard and start tracking my web site’s visitors.

First impression about its look: too dark, too blue.

First impression about its potential: impressive.

First impression about CPU consumption: High, but  FireFox 2 is worse.

Although it doesn’t beat Nico’s Google Analytics Suite, I am still going to say that is worth downloading and using it.
The difference between these two: Woopra (beta) shows you instantly your visitor’s presence, while Google doesn’t.

Now, aside from having lots of cool analytics capabilities, Woopra also let you tag your visitors and members, and allows the webmasters to interact with the visitors through Click-to-chat feature.

If you’re using WordPress, there is also a plugin that you can use instead of a code to start tracking.

When sending a message across, we immediately assume that the other person understands it, but assuming is generally wrong.

I wanted to make this post long, fill it in with lots of communication goodies, but then I decided to start with some very simple basics.

While looking around I found a nice little article at Paulstips.com: Seven tips for powering up your communication skills and you might want to have a read….In fact read it few times if you have to and read it loud to yourself, then remember your last time when you were frustrated because of a broken communication channel and its effect, or when you communicated something and for "some reason" people didn’t get it.

An example:

Don’t just expect others to know.
If you do expect  others to know and you care only about this much, then maybe is wise to share the blame when something fails.
When something fails, before pointing fingers and throw blame, let the other person defend and say why things went wrong.
That person’s answer might give you clues on how to handle the communication next time, because knowing the people you’re in contact with is a part of knowing how to efficiently communicate your messages.

Confession: I am a course addict.

Whenever I find a good course I’m immediately into it.

Most of the time the courses I read are not directly related to my job, but you might be surprised to find out how helpful they can be in certain situations.

FreeSkills in one of the web sites with over 650 courses and tutorials, and some of them are really worth having a look at.

Computer, Accountancy, Marketing, Finances are just few categories from about 50 available and the courses provided are very well presented and easy to understand.

This is not one of the usual learning web sites I usually blog about.

To get to the full courses, you will have to pay a yearly fee, around £99, and only then you will get a full access to all courses.
Don’t worry though…you can still access the courses, their very short versions or just the summaries.

If they are teasing you enough, you can then sign up….Like a “try before you buy”.
