How about that?

An article on BBC.co.uk - - is uncovering the story behind the DRM Free tracks.

Apparently, is not so DRM-Free as they said it would :

News site Ars Technica was among the first to discover that downloaded tracks free of Fairplay have embedded within them the full name and account information, including e-mail address, of who bought them.

Why is it that every time is the customer that gets hurt and when we ask for an explanation, they all go deaf?

The BBC has contacted Apple seeking comment but so far the company has made no official response.

Umm… Take your time! We already know the answer.

If they are trying to protect their products, they should say so.

What a joke!!! This is just wrong!

Its wrong on so many counts.

I believe companies should have the right to protect their tracks, but I also believe that the customer should be informed on how they protect them.

Thing is though, they are not exactly lying either. They advertise them as DRM free and are free of DRM, so really they have not done anything wrong.

Of course the paying customers will not see this and this may hurt Apple. Why do people use Apple itunes? There are plenty of places where people can find unprotected tracks legally.

The data embedded is still a way to manage their tracks…not like before, but different.
Whether DRM or this, is still a way to lock up the users.

They should have said that they aren’t completely clean, because at the end, all the user wants is listen his music , DRM free and also, not worry about the identifiable data.

What they did, was use a workaround…

This reminds me of the Sony Playstation magazine stunt with the dead goat. Its not on the same level, but both have made me think “what were the marketing team thinking?”. Surely somebody must have said “the public are not going to like this”?
