Rights and Wrongs

Wrongs :AOL- From Kasper to McAfee

Quick post:

AOL decided to replace its antivirus software Active Virus Shield, powered by Kaspersky with McAfee Virus Scan Plus instead…and they call it “Special Edition”.

The new suit is still free and includes a firewall, antivirus and a spyware protection.

So what’s wrong about it?

Users who have been using McAfee over the years know that is not only a difficult program to remove in case you don’t want to use it anymore, but also its antivirus scanning angine is not as good as Kaspersky.

One thing i really hated about McAfee, was the huge amount of CPU resources it was using, and i do not suppose that this has changed.

My recommendation – Try finding something else instead. There are lots of other antivirus, firewalls and anti-spyware freeware that won’t clog your system and slow it down.

Check out the disk space you need for it.

System Requirements

  • Windows Vista

    Windows 2000, XP

  • 200MB hard disk space – Huh???????

DRM-Free iTune tracks? What a bad joke!

How about that?

An article on BBC.co.uk – – is uncovering the story behind the DRM Free tracks.

Apparently, is not so DRM-Free as they said it would :

News site Ars Technica was among the first to discover that downloaded tracks free of Fairplay have embedded within them the full name and account information, including e-mail address, of who bought them.

Why is it that every time is the customer that gets hurt and when we ask for an explanation, they all go deaf?

The BBC has contacted Apple seeking comment but so far the company has made no official response.

Umm… Take your time! We already know the answer.

If they are trying to protect their products, they should say so.

What a joke!!! This is just wrong!

May I please ask you to…

Update

One of my entire entries (Best Freeware ) has been copied and pasted into this blog without my permission : lvwenshi.blogspot.com .

I left a message and ask the individual to remove the entry and so my friend David did.

All he did was remove our comments and just ignore the request.

Does anyone have any idea how to deal with content theft?

…ask my permission when you decide to copy and paste an entire entry from my blog into your blog?

To make this short….No! You can’t copy and paste it as it is your own. You don’t have my permission to do so.

You can take a parahraph of it though, and link it back to my entry…

Please, have some respect!

IE and Firefox fake login flaw

The latest versions of both Firefox and Internet Explorer are vulnerable to an unpatched flaw that allows hackers to snaffle users’ login credentials via automated phishing attacks.

The information disclosure bug affects the password manager in Firefox 2.0 and its equivalent in IE7. Firefox’s Password Manager, for example, fails to properly check URLs before filling in saved user credentials into web forms.

Vista’s EULA product activation worries

The terms of Microsoft’s End User License Agreement (EULA) for its upcoming Vista operating system raises the conflict between two fundamental principles of contract law. The first, and more familiar, is that parties to a contract can generally agree to just about anything, as long as what they agree to doesn’t violate the law and isn’t “unconscionable”.

The second principle is that the law generally disfavors the remedy of “self-help”. That is to say that, if there is a violation of the terms of a contract, you usually have to go to court, prove the violation, and then you are entitled to damages or other relief.
