To-Do Lists from Mind Tools – Learn how to plan your time intelligently

A very interesting article from Mindtools.com

“Do you frequently feel overwhelmed by the amount of work you have to do? Do you face a constant barrage of looming deadlines? Or do you sometimes just forget to do something important, so that people have to chase you to get work done?

All of these are symptoms of not keeping a proper “To-Do List”. To-Do Lists are prioritized lists of all the tasks that you need to carry out. They list everything that you have to do, with the most important tasks at the top of the list, and the least important tasks at the bottom.”

Symbaloo-Your personal online desktop

A while back, i was looking for a web service where i could put together all my favourite web sites that i visit every day, but i couldn’t find a decent enough one.

See, is so much better when you have them all listed on one page, and you don’t have to look through your bookmarks for them.

Services such as Gmail or YouTube are easy to remember, but when it comes to all the other services i have subscribed to, then is a mess to keep track of them.

And so, is one of those web sites who are saving my day and spare me some minutes of looking for my most important bookmarks.

With a great interface that will resize to your screen’s resolution, Symbaloo offers you the possibility to add lots of bookmarks in blocks and order them in rows and columns by dragging and dropping.

You can choose from a variety of services such as: dictionaries, encyclopedias, news, translations, movies, images, books, currency and so much more- or you can add your chosen ones such as Gmail, gDocs, Veoh, FaceBook, Zooomr and so on- or….just add your links by typing in the URL and you’re set.

If you have lots of stuff you want to see in one place, then you can add more rows and more columns to the page

Have a look at this screenshot and you’ll see what i mean.

You can start testing by filling the blocks and if you decide that you want to use Symbaloo as your startup page, then you can create an account and keep the newly created blocks.

To add links to the blocks, move your mouse over an empty one and then click add. You will then be taken to another view from where you can pick up bookmarks, search modules, news feeds, widgets and radio.

The only thing that i would love to see soon in Symbaloo is the option to import my own bookmarks.

Apparently they are working on that feature as we speak.

Of course, the service is still in beta, so there are lots of goodies to come and make Symbaloo much more useful than it is at the moment.

Manage your data with ContactOffice (beta)

In a previous entry, I was talking about Mail2Web and it’s ability to retrieve your e-mails, keep yourself organized with the Task and Calendar features, import and manage your contacts and so on…

Today I will be talking about the beta version of , a virtual office pretty much with the same features as Mail2web plus some more.

The main difference between these two is that ContactOffice doesn’t require you to sign up for another e-mail address, but Mail2web does.

When using Contact office, you will be able to use your e-mail address with which you’ve signed up with to send and receive your e-mail, and signing up for a yourname@contactoffice.com e-mail is a free option.

Another option, just like Mail2web, is the ability to retrieve e-mails from other accounts into one place.

Here’s a shot of the main home page:

There are 4 main versions of ContactOffice, ranging from Individual version for a single user (no data sharing) to Education version for 1000 users and more.

These are some of the main features, but not all offered to the single user

  • Groups – Create internal groups or intercompany groups to share files and data.
  • Messages – Retrieve, send+receive e-mails, SMS, Fax
  • Calendar
  • Address book
  • Documents – Store and share all files types
  • Virtual drive – Access your online documents easily from a special folder on your operating system desktop
  • Forums – Secured forums that can be only accessed by the group members.
  • Chats- Secured chats between group members
  • Notes
  • Bookmarks – Store your bookmarks online to access them from any computer – Import and export features work with all Web browsers
  • Tasks
  • Phone Calls – Send phone messages to your group members in a structured way

There’s more to it, so if you wish to explore it, just visit http://beta.contactoffice.com/ and click on the flash Demo.

Personally, I love this service and I will be using it.

Mail2Web – One mail to rule them all

Mail2Web Live – e-mail retrieval application, and yet, more than that.

For me, this is one e-mail too many, and to be honest, i do need one to catch them all.

This one, does the trick for me in retrieving, as i can’t forward all my e-mails to my gmail.

What you need to do first, is to create an e-mail address – yourname@Mail2Web.com .

What exactly is that Mail2Web has to offer?

  • Personal home page
  • Chat Service
  • Mail2Web Live
  • + Lots of other tools

Mail2Web Live features:

  • Provides a personal calendar, tasks list, contacts, reminders, journal and more
  • Synchronize with your mobile device (ActiveSync included free)
  • Feature-rich, browser based interface based on Outlook 2003
  • BlackBerry wireless add-on
  • Tons of storage and send attachments up to 100 MB
  • Automatically collect emails from other accounts

Once you’re logged in, is time to explore the options above.
