We7 - music with ads is in fact great

Web 2.0, Music, Personal, Blogging November 4th, 2007

Bloggers have been writing about it since the first time the service came online and some musicians have been a part of it since about the same time….and I just discovered it through a post from my company’s blog.

We7 - the service that offers music with ads is actually pretty impressive.

Yesterday evening I just couldn’t get enough of listening to some of the nicest tunes in there, and downloaded them with no fear.

You can also share them at will with your friends. All you need is to create a user account, which is free, and you’re set.

It isn’t bothering at all having a couple of seconds advertising in the song, considering that the voices they’re using are soft….and having them removed after 4 weeks.

The artists, the Americans at least, are getting tired of all the DRM fight between agencies such as RIAA and the customers, and so services such as We7 are born.

I can only say thank you for having some bright marketers/advertisers pacifying things this way - the We7 way:

Using the latest ‘pat.pending’ MediaGraft Web 2.0 technologies, We7 will:
  • Deliver free, legal and safe music, video and other digital entertainment to everyone who wants to download it
  • Provide a direct route for bands and fans to form even closer relationships
  • Be ‘artist friendly’ at all times, make sure rights owners get paid and artists are respected for their work and maintain control over their Intellectual Property
  • Deliver targeted, localized and intimate advertising opportunities for brands and companies of all sizes, whilst letting our users choose which messages are relevant to them
  • Help abolish piracy by making it no longer worthwhile to visit illegal and unsafe music and video websites

Although I am late blogging about this service, I would still recommend you to go and have a look and support the artists this way instead of pirating their music.

To close this post, i would like to make one last recommendation for the Ambient/Chill/Lounge music lovers - and .

Sign up, download, lay back and relax!

DRM-Free iTune tracks? What a bad joke!

Music, Personal, Rights and Wrongs, General, Blogging June 2nd, 2007

How about that?

An article on BBC.co.uk - - is uncovering the story behind the DRM Free tracks.

Apparently, is not so DRM-Free as they said it would :

News site Ars Technica was among the first to discover that downloaded tracks free of Fairplay have embedded within them the full name and account information, including e-mail address, of who bought them.

Why is it that every time is the customer that gets hurt and when we ask for an explanation, they all go deaf?

The BBC has contacted Apple seeking comment but so far the company has made no official response.

Umm… Take your time! We already know the answer.

If they are trying to protect their products, they should say so.

What a joke!!! This is just wrong!

Be-Funk - Aftermath

Music, Personal, General, Blogging May 27th, 2007

Somewhere in the middle of the concert

Yann :” Is it hot in here or is just me?”.

“It’s you!”, I screamed from somewhere close to the stage.

Indeed it was him being hot, along with the rest of the band….

How couldn’t they not be hot, when the music was just so jazzy and beautiful?

It really gets straight to your heart, if you hear these guys singing live.

->

I got there around 8 PM and there was another band playing, so me and my girlfriend Patsy got ourselves some drinks and waited for to come in.

A bit later, they started coming in,one by one.

I couldn’t wait to meet Antonio, one of the band members and of course, being in my nature to be goofy, I confused Antonio with Yann and introduced myself to him.

I can’t even tell you how bad I felt about that, bad about not looking better at the band’s photos… about confusing The Voice with the Key Lord….

You see…. I know Antonio (AF) from SU and that was the first time ever that i was about to meet anyone I know online, so I was very excited about all this.

This probably explains my goof.

Anyway…..

When the music started, they had me at the first beat.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the ambiance and the music, so it was all pleasant and it felt so right to be there.

I will not go into deep details, but later on, after the concert, I got to talk to some of the band members and let me tell you that these people are simply and purely amazing.

They are so friendly and so cute, and sweet, like I haven’t seen in a long time….and you find them all together. Now that’s a rare thing.

My girlfriend Patsy said that the  concert had a big bonus ( and I so agree with her), but I am not going to tell you what the bonus was. If you want to know about it, just go to their next concerts and discover it yourself.

I promise, you will not regret it.

Did I said already that they are amazing? Yes, they are.

I had a very interesting night, and I haven’t felt that happy in a very long time, and for many reasons, last night will be one to remember.

->

Their next concert, except the one tonight, is on Saturday the 14th of July 2007 at The Bok and Dragon at 22:00, on Rue du Noyer, 189 in Brussels.

Hope I’ll make it to this one too.
