Defragmentation is a very important process of the computer maintenance jobs and one should never underestimate it’s power.

Keeping your files together on your hard drive will ensure not only that your computer will always boot fast, but also browsing your computer’s files will be faster.

Just because we are using freeware to do our maintenance, it doesn’t mean that they are inferior or less powerful than the paid software.

Power Defragmenter GUI + Contig Sysinternals

Power Defragmenter is a core application for Contig and it won’t work without it.

Download them both. Extract Contig in the same folder and Power Defragmenter.

Start Power Defragmenter.Select a mode and click Next.

Auslogics Disk Defrag

This is a little and yet powerful defragmenter.

All you have to do is install it and let it defragment.

Vista compatible.

Diskeeper Lite ( no longer offered for free from Diskeeper.com but you can find it on other web sites).

We all know this one, so I will skip to the next one.

Iobit SmartDefrag

This is one of the ” set-and-forget” defragmenters.

Very efficient and Vista compatible.
