CarolsVault.com does not spam - Askimet blocks my domain name
Personal, Blogging December 21st, 2006
Update :
After cracking my brains out on what the problem might be, i tried leaving a comment on Ajay’s blog via Cooliris and it worked. The left another comment, on another blog, but this time just via Firefox and i got blocked.
It didn’t make sense to me so i started digging.
Probably my security settings were too high. I disabled my ZoneAlarm security suite and activated Windows Firewall.
At this moment i could leave messages. Enabled Back ZA and i got blocked again.
Could ZA be the cause of my comments being caught as spam? Maybe .
Honestly, i have the strangest errors sometimes.
I just didn’t want to go through all that again so i just permanently disabled ZA and installed Comodo Firewall.
At this point, i can leave comments without falling as spam.
For those who had the same problem and are using ZA, try disabling it and leave comments. See it it works.
Hope that’ll help someone.
Ok,i’ve had it!
I am really upset right now.In fact, i am angry as hell.
When leaving comments on my friends blogs i keep getting caught as spam by Askimet.
I already sent an e-mail to Askimet support but never got an answer back.
For the record, i do not leave spam comments and if someone leave those comments on my name, then i don’t know what to do.
If, you’ve got disturbing comments with my blog’s name and e-mail address, please, let me know and let me know as well the ip address from where the comment originates.
Today i have sent the second e-mail for support to Askimet and i will be waiting for an answer….
If someone had the same issue, please tell me how you fixed it.
Thank you.
About
They wouldn’t explain to me why Keith was being blocked either, but I’ve also got onto Wordpress about it and we’ll see what happens. Its only happening on my site when you are using the info@carolsvault.com address though.
Wordpress might not get back in touch with you because your URL does not contain wordpress.com in its address.
I haven’t contacted wordpress.com and i don’t think i will. The problem isn’t there.
If is related to my e-mail address, which is clean and only used to communicate with the people, then i will change it with another one.
Thanks Dave.
I had a similar problem with Kerio Firewall; i had the problem commenting using Opera browser and Kerio firewall and if i used firefox there was no issue.
I hope all is well with you (and your blog despite the spam block) so here’s wishing you a Merry Xmas and a very Happy New Year, Carol.
Cheers, K
I had such problem in the beginning but akismet fixed it ..
Shiva, if i knew i would have asked you. Thanks for letting me know you had the same problem.
K, God bless you and happy holidays to you too and a happy 2007.
Madhur, i am still waiting for an answer from Askimet.
But i guess now, that the problem is solved, there won’t be much they can do.
Wordpress have not been in touch either
I have noticed that your comments keep getting caught which is really odd.
Have you heard anything back from them? I suppose that they are already taking time off for christmas.
I had an issue with Akismet recently.
I wrote to them and Matt replied a few days later telling me that no reports had been received. I found out that internal settings in that blog were giving a problem.
Things are sorted out now.
Anyway, you wont get blocked so easily on my blog. I have SK2 powering it.
Still haven’t heard anything from them and i don’t think i will.
The thing with my blog was that i was getting caught as spam on my friends blogs.
It’s fixed now but i need to configure better my new firewall.
